I canceled my gym membership last year because of the economy. Is there any other way to add muscle besides the gym. My wife and I have been doing Weight Watchers for at least three months and have lost almost 70 lbs. together. I feel like I'm losing my strength and would like to know how I can get it back. Open to any suggestions, can't afford a personal trainer. Diet is not an issue since I eat a high fiber, good fats, moderate protein diet.

get a combination flat bench and some dumbells/45 pound plates.... I actually have a set of bowflex type dumbells where they can adjust from 5 pounds up to 50 pounds. I use these sometimes for smaller body parts if i'm going high rep and don't feel like going to the gym... weights aren't real expensive. Get an olympic bar and some plates and your set!!! Cover your big 7... Bench Press, Dips, Rows, Curls, Squats, Military Press and Deadlifts... You can do almost all of these with an olympic bar! And for the dips, just use the bench with your feet propped up and some weight in your lap, and BAM, you can cover ALL of the Big 7. I would recommend this... Check out form for all of the exercises i named. You can throw all of this in a garage as well, or covered patio or something. I actuall worked out this way all through High School, and definately helped my strength :)

Good luck,

Any questions message me!!!!

Exactly as he said but even more simple no equipment required things like push ups, pull ups, bodyweight squats, high knees, burpees, bear crawls. Sprinting for leg developement, posing. Yes I said posing, great workout, fills the muscle full of blood. You can Flex through all ranges of motions using opposing muscles working against each other to create resistance. That is WAY more taxing than you could ever imagine. The only peice of equipment you would need for a posing workout is a towel to wipe up the sweat. Plyometrics will help too and you don't need equipment, other than a chair or something to jump off of and catch yourself. Or plyometric pushups where you explode up, clap then catch yourself again. Lots of options man. I would look into a book for Hindu workouts they have amazing workouts with just the body weight that you should really look into.
if cash is way too tight....fill up a garbage bag with water wrap it in a shirt....voila....you have weight. another tip....i called my gym when money started getting tight and they lowered my monthly cost by 15 dollars. hope this helps.
