How Fallen Heros Can Inspire
I respect Mr McGwire for the man he is, so take this in the spirit of making something good come out of this for him. But his story should serve as inspiration to remain clean. It's a good thing that he admitted to it, as he can now speak to a generation all too prone to be drawn to steriods and pro hormones.

Yes, the press can go overboard. In this case, I wasn't commenting on their coverage, but also trying not to pile on to criticize Mark McGwire. My biggest difficulty with this is that is typical of what our society faces --- a pressure to use steriods and pro hormones to compete. Then, athletes dare to admit they use it. Why? Seems to me if you can't admit to using it, you know it's wrong, you know it's ill gotten gains. So without piling on to Mr. McGwire, he could really turn this into a positive for our society if he would come to speak out against steriods and PHs!
