I cant tell you the amount of times I have heard people talking about how discouraged they were when they went to the gym a few days ago or they feel like they are weak or small. "Some guy was ripped" "That chick was so fit" "He benches so much more than me" "His arms a way bigger than mine" Blah Blah Blah!! We have all said these things and to be honest, most of us probably think these thoughts every time we step into the gym. These negative thoughts only prevent us from being the best we can possibly be. What I have learned to do is never compare myself to someone. Reason why..there will always be some one stronger, richer, more fit, better looking, ect. and thats just LIFE! Rather than compare yourself to other people, looks deep inside and set goals for yourself. Each time go to the gym thinking wow, I am gunna be the best I can be. Keep that attitude and stick with it. No one can stand between you and your goals, NO ONE. Newtons first law says every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it. Dont let anyone be that external force. Keep that motion going :D

I hear that bro! I cant tell you how many times I hear those statements from others. Just focus on yourself and your goals.
Dude... This was INCREDIBLE!! Thanks for posting!!! God bless
Thanks Steve! Thought I would write a little inspirational post :P
This was a good article for me to read today. Discouragement comes from many different sources--from comparing yourself to others, to just feeling run down and stressed. For me, it's hard to get motivated this time of year. The weather is cold (and has been rainy), food and drinks (and holiday parties) are copious, and there is just so much to do! Shopping, decorating, planning, etc. So many things to get in our way, which is just more the reason to stay active. If you take too much time away from the gym, it's so much harder to get back on schedule. Keeping things simple is a good way for me to make it through. I don't have goals set too high, or workouts too hard or time consuming. I find that if I just get IN the gym it keeps me on schedule. Then I don't have to worry SO much about the food and drinks that come with the holidays. I'm able to consume and enjoy without feeling too guilty!! Just keep on moving!!
I will always compare myself to "that girl" that just always seems to look incredible--but then I remember that if I work as hard as "she" does, and commit myself as much as "she" does, that one day I'll be "that girl"!!
Happy Holidays!!
Thanks for posting this....I truly NEEDED to hear this, even if I've heard it before....repetition is the mother of learning. :)
great words...

Thanks for this post. I will admit, I have been guilty of this before...but I can speak from experience that if you focus only on yourself, you will find people start comparing themselves against you. Thanks for the encouragement.
Wonder how are you going, then, Darrell, completely vanished from here. Keep up you too! lol
Good topic! We live in a very superficial world and people get so caught up. I guess we can call it a lack of focus!
Great post man! You hit the nail on the head. Our brains are like computers, at first they are like brand new with all the programs we want on them. Then as time goes on we tend to get spyware/viruses (from negative things others say or negative thoughts we for some reason think about ourselves) on them. All that clutter tends to distract us from what our goals might have been and may even make us throw in the towel. When all we need to do is put the cd in that allows us to clean up the spyware/viruses and get back on track at full speed again.

Thanks for the inspiration Darrell!
Awesome post! Great words to think everytime I hit the gym...Im gonna give it a try! Thanks! : )
Right On!
