I cant tell you the amount of times I have heard people talking about how discouraged they were when they went to the gym a few days ago or they feel like they are weak or small. "Some guy was ripped" "That chick was so fit" "He benches so much more than me" "His arms a way bigger than mine" Blah Blah Blah!! We have all said these things and to be honest, most of us probably think these thoughts every time we step into the gym. These negative thoughts only prevent us from being the best we can possibly be. What I have learned to do is never compare myself to someone. Reason why..there will always be some one stronger, richer, more fit, better looking, ect. and thats just LIFE! Rather than compare yourself to other people, looks deep inside and set goals for yourself. Each time go to the gym thinking wow, I am gunna be the best I can be. Keep that attitude and stick with it. No one can stand between you and your goals, NO ONE. Newtons first law says every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it. Dont let anyone be that external force. Keep that motion going :D

Thanks Darrell! I realize its an old post, but the words still ring true.

The sentence that says, "These negative thoughts only prevent us from being the best we can possibly be" is 100% my main problem. My path to a new healthy lifestyle is more like a roller coaster with extreme highs and lows. I try real hard, get real motivated and then screw up once and come crashing down with the whole "who cares anyway" attitude. I let myself do it again last week. I was doing so well for 3 straight days, messed up once and took that as license to think well, i screwed up anyway, gotta start all over again anyway so what difference does it make and I completely reverted. If i didnt have such a poor attitude about it, i would've just picked right up at my next meal/trip to the gym. Messing up once doesn't give me the right to go all out and logically, I know that. Psychologically I feel like Im doing it to myself for some reason I haven't figured out yet.

The only standing in the way of my goals - is myself! How does one get out of their own way anyhow? lol!!
Awesome Post...Thanks for these great words....
