ON Lone Star: My first competition!

Hello all! I'm currently training for the ON Lone Star in August; it's going to be my first time as a fitness competitor. I'm registered in the Open division of the Male Fitness Model category, but I'm having a bit of a hard time finding out what exactly is required in this category. REAL's FAQ was helpful in learning what type of look is expected, and how that varies, as well as letting me know the different categories of swimsuit and theme wear. I haven't really been able to find any examples though of what kind of poses are used or expected, as well as examples of what kind of things people choose for the theme wear category.

I certainly plan on doing something that's completely individual and my own for the theme wear category, but I don't want to choose an outfit that's ridiculously out of context for the competition if I don't know what kind of things are expected. As well with the poses, I think I understand the idea that I'm supposed to present my own poses that best highlight my physique, but some examples for inspiration would be very helpful. As a brand new competitor who's self-coached, I don't really have anyone to turn to personally for this kind of information, so I can't take anything for granted.

One last thing I wanted to touch on is hair. I'm blonde, with relatively longer hair, and I'm very proud of my hair. I thought that keeping longer would be great, and would help me stand out as an individual on-stage, but I notice nearly ALL competitors have short hair. Will my having longer hair be an issue? Much appreciation to everyone, and I'm looking forward to the competition!

I'll bump this once more. I'm doing a lot of work on my theme wear and I'm not too worried about my swim wear or posing, but again, this is my first competition ever. I'd appreciate if there is any information or examples that others could point me to, so that I know I'm not going too far afield with my theme wear, and to know what to expect in terms of posing. Thanks again!

Hey Kyle,

You know what will help you out?? I know you emailed me about camps and it is a concern for you because you are flying in from NY. We are currently working on having an online web camp with answers and videos to all the things you are currently concerned with. We are conducting a test run tomorrow morning with just us to make sure it will work. If all goes well, we will have the web camp next weekend. There will be 19-20 spots and it will be at a discounted rate due to the fact that it will be our first camp online. It will be live and interactive so you can ask your questions as well. =) We will be having a camp in Houston, TX July 16th but I know that you are in NY so I really think the web camp will be great for you.

As far as your hair goes, you have nothing to worry about. You can have our hair long, point wise, you will not be deducted for having long hair

So I may not actually be able to attend the online camp tomorrow. It's my mother's birthday, and I'd like to spend the time preparing something special for her. I already registered, so the charge can be a contribution to REAL, which I wholeheartedly support.

i am competing in bodybuilding so its easy for me. if you can find some videos from the new physique division or maybe from other model events those might be something you can start with.
