I have several of my friends who tried the program and every sigle one of them QUIT after several weeks!! I guess the program is made for an "already fit individual". They just can't keep up with it. It might work for US but not everyone!!
thats the kind of feedback im looking for!!!!
P-90X is a very cool program. The only problem is that when people see it on television, they quickly get caught up with the good looking fitness models that have been doing resistance training before getting hired to sell this product. As you know, any program looks cool to everyone, but everyone is not discipline enough to do the common things. Good nutrition, resting and training hard periods with resistance training.
I agree with all the comments. But I would like to add that if you need help in trying to find some at home work outs for specific body parts, then the P90X will definitely give you a good variety of that! Whether you stick with the video work outs or drop the program, you should at least come away with a variety of exercises in case you wanted to create your very own routine out of it. Look up the videos on youtube.
I have this program and it does have a variety of workouts and does not require lots of equipment. You will need a pullup bar and a bench and some weights definitely. I like it as it introduced me to different types of workouts and the workouts are not easy .. the only thing is if you are unable to do an exercise they have very limited options for those who may not be quite ready or strong enough to do it as shown. I stopped because I love pumping iron and the yoga and kenpo days kinda drove me nuts .. i was antsy while doing it and after I got done felt like I was missing something lol .. my buddies my dumbells and barbells :) Maybe you can find a used copy and see how u like it.
In regards to becoming fit, building good spacial awareness, quality muscle control and so on, it is a great program. When the weights are added in conjunction with this program, it becomes better. When the P90X program is used as a conditioning program with the regular resistance training, it is about perfect for all the model divisions and such. For bodybuilders...not so good.
I would have to agree this would not be a good program for bodybuilders. In my opinion this is more for someone that wants to be lean, muscular, and in good cardio shape. Some of the excercises that they have you do will be very hard if your cardio is not up to par and it makes you use muscles that you don't hit with weights. Bottom line its a good program, not for everyone.
Just curious Clay... what did you decide?
Thanks for the input folks. I'm about to start the program whole heartedly. I will post my progress. I've been eating clean for about 7 months, since I started my transformation. I have had great results, but need an extra something to take off the remaining body fat. I'm hoping this will help. I also already workout at home, so the discipline is there.
Decided to just keep hitting the gym--If I know someone who has it and ill borrow it--then Ill make a more educated decision--but Im not going to go out and buy it to decide.
I found one online for only $73, the whole pkg. I found just the dvd's for $48. Mine just came in from China. Thanks.
Have tried some of the workouts. The program provides solid cardio and it has a diet included. However as someone who has done more serious conditioning programs such as Crossfit and Rosstraining; the workouts where enough to get me to work up a decent sweat but were not as challenging as the other programs. However I can imagine it being pretty diffocult to someone who is not used to this style of cardio. The program also does not include heavy squats, deadlifts, or shoulder presses which I feel is fundumental to any program.
