It's really easy for beginners to advanced bodybuilders to get caught up with all the "guru" advised training methods, articles and other vast quantities of information that is shoveled our way in the fitness industry. In turn we tend to over-think and over-analyze set, rep and calorie that comes in contact with our bodies. Sometimes even at the expense of the very thing we are striving for, progress.

Don't get me wrong. It's always good to try and educate yourself... to a point. That point would be the one where you start second guessing every move you make. Always trying to find the next best thing before you gave the previous best thing a chance to work. Let's face it. It's easy in this industry to suffer from information overload. It happens to the best of us.

So, if you find yourself stuck in a rut spinning your wheels, give yourself a couple months of change. Quit following other peoples training articles, put away your workout log and give your mind a break. Now is the time to listen to your body and learn how to decipher the feedback it's giving you. Forget I must do exactly 3 sets of 10, or I have to do flat bench before inclines before flys. Go in to the gym with an open mind. If you feel like doing 15 sets of dumbell curls do 15 sets of dumbell curls. Just did legs 2 days ago but you feel like hitting them again? Do it! Your body is smarter than you think. It has a great way of telling you what it needs, you just might not know how to listen yet.

Also, I do know some people feel the need for structured/scheduled workouts to stay consistent and focused. If you are one of those people try making changes on a smaller scale. The results may just surprise you.
