Why Exercise Won’t Make You Thin

This is an article from Time Magazine last month that really struck a cord with me…

The jest is that exercise will not help you loose weight…that it makes you hungrier and that you will most likely simply eat more “bad” foods to reward yourself…BLAH!

There is some good information in the article…BUT, it references that a pound of muscle will burn 4 more calories per day than fat…AT REST. It says if you gain 10 pounds of muscle and loose 10 pounds of fat, you will only be able to eat 40 calories more per day. WHAT?!?! Sure, at REST. Overall, I feel stories like this to be offensive as it seems to destroy ALL we work towards with clients, friends, family, colleagues and so on.

I’d like you guys input if you have time to read the article…I am hoping I rushed through it and missed something…I hope ;)

I have a LOT more to write about it, but I am sure it will come out in pieces as we all write about it.

Hi Jason ~ I read this article last month and passed it along to my clients. As you know, most people do workout to eat 'crap' or try to overcompensate with excessive cardio in the quest to be thin. Not a one of my clients would mention this article about exercise not making them thinner, for they all like to completely blow their nutrition (and did I mention pound the alcohol) and then complain to me that their bulking up. So sad!

This article is full of nonsense. I can't believe this is coming from TIME magazine. I guess not everyone knows that a slice of pizza after a 45 min. cardio equals wasted time. This is really sad.
All I have to say about this article is WOW! haha
I know I'm a little late replying on this discussion. I saw the same article and I could not get through the whole thing (and I am a very open minded individual). Although Time magazine and all other media for that matter may work against me I will still spread the good word of fitness until the day I die!

Great thing to read. Also as an additional tip, there are also ways you can lose weight faster like having gastric bypass surgery Arizona if you live near the area. But then again even after having a weight loss surgery it's still important to have proper eating habits and exercise.
