"The best things in life are truly free" ... except they're not ...

I love quotes and have respect for anyone who has the originality to come up with their own, but I have to completely disagree with this one. I think the person who said this (not sure who he/she is, nor do I feel the need to google it - no disrespect) was probably referring to the common conception that the things we need to make our lives better such as family, friends, love, respect, etc., do not have to be bought. While I agree with that 100%, the quote itself is very superficial.
Someone please define "the best things"....
Today at work I made the comment that my trainer is "the best." In the short time that I've worked with him, he's done so much for me - mentally, physically, and even emotionally. Do you think he was free? Absolutely not. Not only did I throw down some cash, every session he puts me through a pretty good amount of physical pain, pushes me to my max, mentally stresses me out about what he's going to make me do next (something I surely wouldn't do on my own), and of course I feel the pain the next day.... and usually a couple of days afterwards as well.

Is training with him one of the best things I've experienced in my life - yes.
Is it by any means "free" - no.

I guess my point is that one person's best may not even be on another person's radar, and that everything we do in life comes with a price. Maybe it's not in the form of U.S. currency, but there's always a cost. We all have different wants, needs, and personal goals. Who's to say what is "the best"? I definitely wouldn't want that job..

** Stay focused on what YOU want and what is BEST FOR YOU ** It's probably not going to be free, but I promise it will be worth it...
