Real Entertainment Athletes Leaders

Hey guys!

Today I was informed that there was a picture of me in the Sun Sentinel, a south Florida news paper. The picture of me was found in a sort of "picture story" without an article written to go along with it, and was entitled "Too Much Muscle: A Look at the More Extreme Participants in the Body Building World."

For one, I found the title to be quite slanted. There is no article written to go along with the picture, and the pictures that are posted are of body building, figure and fitness athletes. This is a sport which many people are unfamiliar with, thus holds a common stigma about the appearance of its athletes. I was quite surprised to be considered "a more extreme participant in the body building world" seeing as I am 100% natural.

I feel that the post not only encouraged readers to see muscular people as abnormal, but did not offer any insight to the world of competitive body building. The athletes that are featured in these pictures work hard year round to achieve the physique they are displaying. Many of these athletes including myself, are 100% natural, and are much healthier than the vast majority of people reading the “Sentinel”. Posted below is the link to the site, let me know your thoughts!

Aww thank you Helene! I agree with your comment as well as Brett's. The article just seemed so odd to me (even though I am used to people being put off by muscular women and even men). It is insane to me that in such an overweight nation, (Miami being the leading city in obesity), people would have the audacity to criticize people for working hard to be in top shape. Thanks for the comments! Keep up the great work everyone, articles like this are just more motivation to keep doing what we do ; )

One would think that in a place such as Florida (I'm a Florida native) that they would appreciate such a beautiful physique. When I lived in Tampa several years ago, people would say that crap to my face and like you being 100% natural is important to me. The Sun Sentinel, needs a reality check with their liberal slanted views. Although, if we look at it like Brett suggests it could be a compliment. Don't let it get you down you look FABULOUS in that photo and I'm in awe and asking how can I get a body like that! You provide inspiration to all of us, thank you!

"I was quite surprised to be considered 'a more extreme participant in the body building world' seeing as I am 100% natural." - If nothing else, it could be seen as a positive since he's calling you "extreme" although you are 100% natural. If you ask me, it's a heck of a compliment and serves as verification that your physique is well-noticed!

I understand what you're saying though. People who aren't even remotely involved just don't have the slightest clue the amount of dedication and TRUE self-discipline it takes to be a body builder, let alone a competitive body builder. Something I learned maybe 5 years ago when I moved to Texas not knowing anybody...99% of people just TALK, while 1% DO.

People seem to think that all physique competitors live their lives to the extreme and are all self centered. We may look different (better in my opinion lol) then your average American but we are not that much different. We all have jobs, families, hobbies etc. we just care about our health and appearance.

It's very frustrating, especially from a medical viewpoint, that people find a way to knock down those who work hard and are actually the ideal for which I want my patients to admire. Keep up the good work!! Looking good and being healthy on the inside is a good thing last I checked.

Fentris, I couldn't agree with you more. Its sad, but it is very true. I was just made aware that this "article" ran not only in the Sun but another publication out in Denver! Must have been a slow news day. Keep the comments coming ; )

Ashley - We live in a society that is so misinformed on the world of hardwork. Just look at magazines, tv and so on and notice how people glorify women being ungodly 'thin'! See it every day whereby people complain about wanting to have a great body, but at the same time chocking down cheeseburger and beer. Then, they go to the gym and want to skip out on weights and do tons and tons of cardio trying to convince themselves that their attractive. Anyone with a brain knows that woman and men that have good physiques work very very hard at it and it's not luck. The old saying "where there is ignorance, there will be fear" is so true! Remember to goof-balls writing these articles etc. haven't ever set foot and the gym more less have a hard work ethic.

The Sun Sentinel and PB Post are both best used to wrap fish most of the time. I agree with you that something should have written with the photo. I see nothing overly muscular about any of you and love to see the final product of hard work.
